Atoma Diamond Plate Review
The problem with this item is that its not a plate.
Atoma diamond plate review. I don t need or want blue spruce nor did i need a 500 lapping plate. The atoma is a very high quality stone. The clusters are arranged in a pattern that allows steel residue called swarf to collect in channels. Atoma plates are great for flattening whetstones.
That sheet is then mounted to a 10mm thick aluminum block which is flat to within 0016. This particular coarse is a little more coarse than i usually need for sharpening purposes but i would imagine the higher coarse atoma stones will perform very well. Unlike other stones where the diamonds are evenly spread atoma diamonds are arranged in clusters. Lately tool advice for the hobbyist seems suspiciously grounded in touting tools for other vendors.
Atoma plates are great for flattening whetstones. If they ever show wear i can buy a diamond film sheet that covers the plate with fresh abrasive. Shame on me for not reading the description extremely carefully or looking at the reviews before purchasing this. According to the manufacturer this results in a more aggressive cutting action.
But 65 is about the right price for an atoma plate. It flattens very quickly faster than the shapton diamond lapping plate and has shown no sign of wearing. It s a pad with no plate. Shame on me for not reading the description extremely carefully or looking at the reviews before purchasing this.
These prices are ludicrous. 65 for a single pad is extremely expensive. 65 for a single pad is extremely expensive. Atoma plates are composed of monocrystalline diamonds electro bonded to a thin sheet of stainless steel.
The problem with this item is that its not a plate. Why would i pay 65 for 1. It s a pad with no plate. I have two atoma diamond plates that are superb.
